BSE
Listed Companies' Market Capitalization Surpasses ₹400 Lakh Crore for the First
Time Amid Broad-Based Rally
The
market capitalization of all listed companies on the Bombay Stock Exchange
(BSE) has reached a historic high, exceeding ₹400 lakh crore. This milestone
comes as the blue-chip, mid-cap, and small-cap indices experience a notable
uptrend.
This
achievement marks a significant progression from earlier milestones. In March
2014, the BSE first breached the ₹100 lakh crore mark, followed by ₹200 lakh
crore in February 2021, and ₹300 lakh crore in July 2023.
Since
April 2023, the market capitalization of BSE-listed firms has surged by ₹145
trillion, marking a remarkable 57% increase. This notable uptick is attributed
to a combination of factors, including improved high-frequency indicators,
robust corporate earnings, positive investor sentiment, and significant inflows
from both domestic and international sources.
The
Mid and Small-cap indices experienced impressive surges of 60% and 63%,
respectively, outpacing the 28.6% rise in the large-cap Sensex index. Noteworthy
sectors driving this momentum included Realty, PSU banks, Auto, Energy, Infra,
and Pharma.
